Hello! I was born in Malaysia and raised in California. I was born into a family of educators where my paternal grandfather was a Chinese School principal back in the early 1930’s, and where several of my cousins are currently educators back home in Malaysia. I’ve always had the desire to teach from the young age of 8. I remember that summers were loads of fun playing school with my stuffed animals, brother and sister whom I often “taught” and ordered around (but my older sister wouldn’t have any of that!) I graduated and received my teaching credential from SJSU in 1989. During that time, it was difficult to find a teaching job, but thankfully, I received a job offer with Hayward Unified in a K-3 school two days before my hire date. The following year, I received an offer with CUSD and have been with Nimitz ever since. Nimitz is a wonderful place to be! Great diversity, awesome students, dedicated teachers and staff, and so much more! I have taught mainly in the primary grades K through 3rd grade. I am blessed to have this wonderful opportunity in life to be an educator where I can witness children grow in so many ways. I find that it is important to provide an enjoyable, safe and collaborative learning environment that encourages meaningful communication where students are given the opportunity to confront real problems, make choices, and find solutions. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, trying out new recipes, hiking, walking, gardening, reading, and listening to music.
