FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR FIRST TIME GARDEN GATORS
WHEN DOES SCHOOL START and END?
The 2019-2020 school year begins on August 15, 2019.
School begins at 8:00AM each day. Grades K-3 are dismissed at 2:05PM and Grades 4-5 at 2:35PM.
WHICH CLASS WILL MY CHILD BE IN AND HOW IS IT DETERMINED?
Students are placed into classrooms to achieve a balance of boys and girls as well as ability levels and other pertinent factors.
The classroom lists and a map of the campus are posted in the office windows after 4:00PM on August 14, 2019.
HOW DO I MEET MEMBERS OF THE PTA?
There is a Welcome Back Continental Breakfast served by the PTA on the first day at 8:00 AM. Please read the Gatoraid for PTA Meeting dates.
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON IN MY CHILD’S CLASS?
Each Thursday a GREEN FOLDER is sent home with important information for parents.
In addition, each teacher has a class website where you can find information that is directly related to their classroom.
WHAT DOES MY CHILD BRING TO SCHOOL THE FIRST DAY?
Typically, each child will bring a backpack, snack for recess, and a bagged lunch or $3.25 to purchase a hot lunch.
DOES MY CHILD BRING SCHOOL SUPPLIES?
Students will be given information during the first few days of school regarding suggested school supplies.
DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BRING LUNCH OR A SNACK TO SCHOOL?
Students should bring a snack to school for the 10:00 AM Recess. A lunch from home should be sent with the student in the morning or a HOT LUNCH can be purchased for $3.25. A lunch count is taken every morning during Attendance for those who will be purchasing HOT LUNCH.
HOW DO I GET MORE INFORMATION ABOUT MY CHILD’S CLASS?
During the first month of school a “Back to School Night” will occur. Each teacher provides information at “Back to School Night” on his/her classroom procedures.
WHERE DO I FIND A CALENDAR OF EVENTS AND OTHER BASIC SCHOOL INFORMATION?
The Garden Gate Handbook located on the school website contains a great deal of information including the calendar for the school year, a calendar of PTA events and school policies. Keep it handy, you will need it throughout the school year.
